Twitter takeover: Sport's role in reducing crime

The Sport for Development Coalition staged its latest live Twitter takeover this week.

In keeping with its monthly theme and 'call for articles' from the sector for December, the discussion on Monday evening (8-9pm) focused on 'Sport's role in reducing crime'.

It was hosted by @ConnectSport which is the official media partner of the Coalition. To lead the discussion, Coalition manager Sarah Mortiboys was joined by James Mapstone, Co-Founder and Chair of the Alliance of Sport for the Desistance of Crime.

Sarah explained: “The Coalition is keen to stimulate a national debate around some of the key subjects within Sport for Development, so we can share best practice and encourage innovation and collaboration across the regions.

”We are very grateful to James and the Alliance of Sport for their support on this important theme of 'Sport's role in reducing crime'."

Each Twitter takeover usually takes place on the last Monday of the month, with StreetGames the special guests for the next session on 'Building stronger communities through sport and physical activity' on Monday, January 28 (8-9pm).
