The Wave Project
The surf therapy charity

The Wave Project is a charity aimed at young people who are at risk of developing serious mental ill health.

The charity has a unique approach to tackling this problem. We recruit and train hundreds of volunteers to deliver free surfing lessons for children who are most at risk. Working in small groups, our surf mentors provide a listening ear and encouragement. This approach helps to break down the social barriers that can leave young people feeling isolated and anxious.

The aim of the charity is to build a sense of community amongst the young people, the instructors and the volunteers that we work with - creating one large Wave Project family that is changing lives across the UK. We’re currently operating in 13 locations and this year we’re on track to work with over 1000 young people through our charity.
